Open Drawing and Painting Studio for Adults – 2nd Wednesdays, 6:30-9 pm

Artists can join instructor/model facilitator Kimberly Setzer in this casual-setting open drawing and painting studio on 2nd Wednesdays, 6:30-9 pm.

Bring your own supplies – paper, canvas, charcoal, graphite, paint…and anything else you’d like to experiment with! Artists will work on easels with a live nude model.

*Please pre-register. The room is limited in space, so reservations are advantageous for both parties!

$10/members, $15/non-members per session

Adult Open Clay Studio Hours – Thursdays, 7-9 pm (beginning Sept 7)

*Pre-registration is required, at least 24-hours in advance.

If this time is inconvenient for you, alternative days/hours may be possible, depending on studio monitor’s schedule. Alternative day/time arrangements must be made in advance. Call our office at 410-546-4748 or email us info@aiandg.org.

These open studio hours are for:

  • Experienced clay artists
  • Students who have taken 2 adult introductory clay classes: “Hand-Building” and “Working on Wheels.”
  • *Exceptions can be made for teens aged 13-17, if they have taken the introductory classes and are proficient in the clay studio.

Artists with introductory experience with clay studio equipment and supplies can pay an hourly studio fee to work freely on our Salisbury Clay Space wheels and tables. We have a slab roller, 5 potter wheels, table space for hand-building and an extruder, as well as a HEPA air cleaning system.

*Supplies – clay and tool kits – must be purchased through Salisbury Art Space. The use of glazes and kiln firing costs are included in the clay price. If you do not want to purchase your own kit, used/shared tool kits are available for use in the studio.

Studio Fee (pay per hour): $20/hr for members, $22/hr for non-members

25 lbs of Clay (can be purchased on-site): $40/member; $50/non-member

Supply Kits: $25 per kit (free, used tools are available for in-studio use; new kits must be ordered well in advance)

“Adult Clay Series: Hand-Building”

This is a six week series for adults, in which students will learn the basics of hand-building with clay.

1st & 3rd Wednesdays (Oct, Nov, Dec), PLUS 5th Wednesday in November (series ends Dec 6th)

7-9 pm

Class Fee: $90/member, $100/non-member

*Students are ALSO required to purchase a 25-lb bag of clay for $40/member or $50/non-member.

*Students in this class can also use Open Clay Studio hours to work on the wheel in between classes, for a half-price hourly fee of $10/member or $12/non-member (regular rates are $20/hr and $22/hr).

“Adult Clay Series: Working on Wheels

This is a six week series for adults, in which students will learn the basics of throwing pottery on a potter’s wheel. They will learn how to use the equipment, supplies and techniques for shaping the clay on the wheel.

This class provides more one-on-one time with the instructor, given the limited wheel capacity.

2nd and 4th Wednesdays from 7-9 pm (October, November, December) *If December 27th conflicts with holiday schedules, alternative dates may be arranged.

Class Fee: $120/member, 130/non-member

*Students are ALSO required to purchase a 25-lb bag of clay for $40/member or $50/non-member.

*Students in this class can also use Open Clay Studio hours to work on the wheel in between classes, for a half-price hourly fee of $10/member or $12/non-member (regular rates are $20/hr and $22/hr).

Sip & Paints: Paint Nite-style evening of art, drinks and good company.
