5 Tips to Improve Figure Drawing Skills

Why Figure Drawing?

Figure Drawing is an essential foundational practice no matter what type of art you make. Learning to draw from observation trains the eye to measure proportions, movement, and recognize the relationship between light/shadow. Drawing from life also creates energy and honesty in the artwork that cannot be simulated or replicated by any other means.

About the Instructor

Shailinn Messer earned her BFA at Tuft’s School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, MA in 2017. The body of her work features a pointed mastery of technical rendering—heavily imprinted by a background in psychology and botany. Amidst an overstimulated and bound society, her work focuses on projected fantasies and fragmented realities.
